The Boy Who Entered The Girl Dynasty

Some children move loudly through the world.
Others move carefully—
watching, noticing,
remembering what most people rush past.
L has always been the second kind.
Sensitive, not fragile,
but aware.
He sees the details others dismiss.
He understands order,
how things fit,
why Legos make sense,
why structure feels safe.
He loves deeply, but selectively,
cherishing a few
instead of needing many.
He is steadfast
when he believes he is right,
unwilling to bend
just to make the room comfortable.
He carries the facts of animals
like small treasures—
how tall they stand,
where they live,
how the world makes space for them.
Sometimes I worry,
not because he is weak,
but because I recognize the road.
The world is not always gentle
with those who feel deeply
and think precisely.
But he is strong.
He already carries resilience
in his bones.
When the road feels lonely,
know this—
you have an aunt cheering for you,
and a quiet strength behind you
that you do not have to name.
When you feel discouraged,
or think you are walking by yourself,
remember—
you are held by love
from many directions.
There is more love around you
than you can see.
You are never walking alone.
And may you always know—
exactly as you are,
right now—
you are strong,
you are capable,
and the world is better
with you in it.
One of four tributes to the people who made me an aunt.
